Hiya Lesley, they got him.
The monster that so cruely took away your life.
On the day of her murder, Lesley had agreed to go down to the shop to get some bread for her mum.
Her body was found three days later, on the moors nearby. She had been stabbed 12 times. Her
clothing was undisturbed, but the killer had sexually abused her. Her body was found three days
later dumped on the moors above Ripponden, West Yorkshire.
The last living memory Lesley's mother, April Garrett, has is of that fateful day in 1975 when
she headed to the shops to buy a loaf for Sunday lunch, wearing her blue coat and her sister's
Bay City Roller socks pulled over her shoes. The next time she saw her daughter, she was identifying
her tiny body in a Halifax mortuary.
Tiny for her age, with learning difficulties and suffering from a heart defect which often left her
breathless, she was described by her mother as "very dainty". Despite this, her family
said she was always cheerful and loved playing with her many friends near to her home in Delamere
Road, Rochdale.
She was a big fan of the Bay City Rollers. Her mum said everyone kept a close eye on her youngest
daughter because of her problems.
But when Lel, as they called her, was late back from a five-minute errand to buy bread from a local
shop, her mother did not worry at first.
Lesley was known in the area as Little Miss Chatterbox and it was thought she had just stopped to
talk to the many people she knew on the Turf Hill estate. Before long, though, Miss Garrett's
concerns mounted and a full scale search was launched.
This enchanting little girl is loved and missed very much by her family who have waited 32 years for
justice. My love to you all.

Sweet little angel
It's been a long road Lesley but they got there in the end. The evil monster that hurt you so badly is locked up, i can just emagine you with a big smile on your face and at peace at last. Your family have been so strong and your mum is lovely, we can see just how much you were loved. I also hope Stephan and his mum are now at peace. R.I.P sweet little angel x
Justice at last
This story im sure has touched everyone, I am so glad you can now rest in peace knowing the guilty man who done this is now locked up for a very long time. Your family have been so strong, fighting for justice. We are all thinking of you and your family at this sad time. God bless to you all. xx

I remember this story in the news because I was about the same age. I am glad the cruel person who did this is behind bars and Lesley's family finally have closure. I hope they now find peace and I hope that Lesley is playing safely in god's garden and that she sends love and guidance down to her loved ones. God bless you all. xxxx
